Silicone rubber insulators (composite insulators) can be classified by application into suspension composite insulators for lines, post composite insulators for substations, and hollow composite insulators. Based on the sheath material and manufacturing process, they can be divided into room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber, liquid silicone rubber (LSR), and high temperature vulcanizing (HTV) silicone rubber insulators. Among these, HTV silicone rubber has become the mainstream technology due to its excellent aging resistance.

Creephole distance refers to the shortest path distance along the surface of the insulating material between two conductive parts. Creepage distance ratio is one of the most critical parameters for evaluating the voltage withstand capability of high-voltage electrical equipment in polluted and humid environments. The external insulation design of the equipment must meet the minimum creepage distance value required by the pollution level of the area.
Taking the FSW-35 type 35kV line high-voltage silicone rubber insulator as an example, its applicable environment is -40~+40℃. Some products can be used in areas with an altitude of 4000m. It is divided into two main categories: ordinary type and pollution-resistant type. The pollution-resistant type is suitable for medium, heavy, and extremely heavy pollution areas.
